"Chinese Bridge" And Construction Of China’s Soft Power

From2002to2011,"Chinese Bridge-Chinese Competition" has been successfully held ten sessions, which attracted nearly200000people to participate in this competition, was popular with young students and had a profound impact all of the world."Chinese Bridge" is playing an important role in Chinese language and culture transmission and becoming an important card to internationalize China’s culture. Based on "Chinese Bridge"-the Chinese Proficiency Competition for college students, this paper analyzed the positive significance of "Chinese Bridge" in the building of China’s soft power.This paper contains four parts in general.The first part is introduction. The fact and evidence that how a country promotes their language to the world are presented, as well as the phenomenon of Chinese popularity and the specific content and development of Chinese Bridge project.The second part mainly introduces the concept and elements of soft power, the relationship among description of language, the distribution of culture and the building of soft power. This part also described the challenges and opportunities of the building of soft strength in our country.The third part is the main body of this paper. Taking Chinese Proficiency Competition for college students as examples, through the method of text analysis, content analysis and data statistics, it has given insightful interpretation on the details of competition program with the perspective of culture transmission.The author considers that the" Chinese Bridge" can reflect the appeal and influence of Chinese culture by updating the means of transmission, showing Chinese elements and optimizing Chinese image, which can explain the" Chinese Bridge" is an important way of building china’s soft power. In addition, the author analyzed this language competition from the linguistic perspective and described some cultural phenomena in this competition.The fourth part mainly explored the positive significance of "Chinese Bridge" in macro-perspective and analyzed it from outward appearance to inner essence.In a word, the author thinks the "Chinese Bridge" can convey Chinese value to the world, show the charm of Chinese culture and let the world get to know China, which also is an important way of enhancing the soft power of china. Besides,"Chinese Bridge" can promote the friendship and culture development of the world.
