With the development of a market economy, English talent became moreand more popular. Now vocational schools are thinking and studying the followingquestions: how to learn English well and improve English occupational competence?How to change classroom teaching from simple teaching process to cognitiveactivities gradually? How to make classroom teaching connected with real life, morallife and emotion life? How to form new thoughts in courses, teaching theory andteaching system?In recent years, our country pays more and more attention to vocationaleducation. Vocational education objectives are not just for students to learn knowledgein class, but also to guide students to master the necessary skills to meet the needs ofsociety and to adapt to future jobs. The theory of “Activity Construction” will engagestudents in new teaching on issues of commonality and difference to help studentsmeet the career and societal challenges they will face in a changing world.As a teacher of foreign language in vocational schools, we have manyresponsibilities in vocational education teaching reform and development. Englishteaching in vocational schools has its own characters. However, students have nointerests in English. How to teach English language in vocational schools? It becomesthe difficult problems.“Activity construction” aims at "class culture reconstruction”and realizes the transformation of teaching English in class.In the traditional class, the teacher as the center is to teach knowledge andmanage the whole class. In this way, there is too much restriction for the students’automatic learning、creative learning and development.“Activity construction” ofstudent-oriented is to improve the learning interest, habit and method, inquiryknowledge and interest. English teaching reform has important significance in thevocational school. It will help students adapt acquired modes of expertise andexperience to new circumstances, and think creatively.The researcher chose the students of Automotive Class Three andAutomotive Class One of2011I taught in Dalian College of Traffic Technician.Automotive Class One (experimental class) was taught by situational approach andinquiry teaching method while Automotive class Three (control class)was taught bytraditional language teaching. The experiment lasted for a semester. I designed thetests between the experimental class and the control class respectively. The results ofpre-test and post-test were collected and analyzed. At the same time, I designed thequestionnaire and presented to the two classes.The experiment results show that the experimental class made greatprogress and improved the interest in learning English and have also positive attitudetowards English class.Therefore, it can be concluded: The teaching strategy of “ActivityConstruction” exerts a tremendous influence on English teaching in vocational schools. I hope that a growing number of education workers maximize favorablefactors and minimize unfavorable ones.
