As an important way to improve students’ comprehensive quality and cultivateversatile talents, practical writing course has a strong practicalness and applicability.In recent years, this course is playing an increasingly significant role in vocationalcolleges. At present, most vocational colleges have set practical writing course, yet itsteaching efficiency does not reach a satisfying level. Then how to develop theteaching effectiveness of practical writing course? How to train the students’ writingskills? How to improve students’ comprehensive quality? All of these questions havebecome something worth thinking about by the teachers teaching practical writingcourse in vocational colleges.The author considers that appropriate situational teaching approach should beadopted via the training aim of vocational education and the students’ practicalsituation. Thus, situational teaching approach would help students to master the skillsof practical writing.This thesis is divided into five parts. The first part introduces the theoretical baseand concept of situational teaching approach. The second parts presents the necessityof using situational teaching approach in practical writing course in vocationalcolleges, analyzing the question from the aspects of the features, disciplines andfunctions of situational teaching approach. The third part explains the application ofsituational teaching approach in teaching practical writing course in vocationalcolleges. By making a comparison between experimental classes and controlledclasses, this part states the detailed strategies of situational teaching approach inpractical writing. Based on the experimental data and respondents, in the fourth part,the author analyzes the experiment through student factors and teacher factors. Thefifth part emphasizes that we should combine situational teaching approach with otherteaching methods to form a better teaching efficiency.
