The Review Of Adverb "hai" Research

The adverb "also" is used frequently in the Chinese, so it has been studying in recent decades. In this text, the usage of adverb "also" is collected, analysed and summarized in the aspects of syntax, semantics, pragmatics research, grammaticalization, and comparison of the adverb "also" and "more", in order to give a comprehensive presentation in the research of adverb "also".The first aspect has to do with the semantic analysis of the adverb "also". People can have a general understanding on semantic of the adverb "also", through enumerating many meanings of the adverb "also" and combing semantic nets of the adverb "also".The second aspect sumed up the role of the adverb "also" in the sentences and summarized the syntactic function of the adverb "also".The third aspect presented the relationship of stress and semantic of the adverb "also", subjectivity of the adverb "also", and tone meaning expressed by the adverb "also", and summarized the pragmatic function of the adverb "also".The fourth aspect reviewed the diachronic study of the adverb "also", summarized the grammaticalization process of the adverb "also" and explained the syntax mechanism. Each meaning of the adverb "also" was developing, especially in the meaning of repeat, continuation, subsequence, turning and counterquestion.The fifth aspect is about the comparison of the adverb "also" and "more", and focuses on the relationship and difference between the adverb "also" and "more".
