Since scholars of Qing Dynasty found Xuan Ying’s Yiqie jingyinyi(Phonetic and Semantic Dictionary for all Buddhist Sutras) from the Tripitaka, this book is widely used to emend various Chinese classics. However, the researchers did not acquire the high-quality edition of Xuan Ying’s Yiqie jing yinyi, nor the characteristics of the book, as a result, some conclusions of the previous researches are open to doubt. Manuscripts of Xuan Ying’s Yiqie jing yinyi excavated from Turfan, northwest of China, preserve the features of the Manuscript Period. These manuscripts are of vital importance to emend different current editions of Xuan Ying’s Yiqie jing yinyi.In this thesis, the author collects12manuscripts of Xuan Ying’s Yiqie jing yinyi excavated from Turfan region. On the basis of previous study, the author examines all kinds of editions of Xuan Ying’s book. This thesis consists of interrelated parts as follows:"Preface" features the Turfan edition’s connection with other editions of the book, giving examples to highlight the value of the Turfan edition for emendation and philology."Emendation of Manuscripts of Xuan Ying’s yiqie jing yinyi excavated from Turfan" closely examines the differences between manuscripts excavated from Turfan and other editions, correcting errors in the current edition, reiterating previous researches which are proved to be correct.
