Application Of Parallel Texts In The Non-literary Translation

In the context of economic globalization, the demand of the non-literary translation in China keeps increasing with each passing day due to the economy development and internationalization acceleration. Through the definition and correlation of non-literary translation and parallel text, this paper is to investigate the application of parallel texts in the non-literary translation. From the angle of translation process, the functions of parallel texts before, during and after translation are explored.In the translation preparation, the parallel text helps translators to fill in the vacancy of the professional knowledge, better understand the original and determine the exact word meaning; with the comparison of the original and the parallel text, translators can fully feel the difference among languages in writing and determine the general styles and genres in translation; by analyzing the parallel text, translators can thoroughly understand the culture expectation, behavioral norms, values and beliefs of target readers, get rid of the cultural bondage in the original text and realize the equivalence between the original and the translation.In the process of translation, translators can use the expressions in the parallel text which are with the same functions or meanings and imitate the writing style to make the translation more idiomatic and appropriate, which finally improves the translation quality and enhances its readability.After translation, the parallel text can provide a standard for the translator and critics to check the expression, writing style, cultural norms and so on in translation and evaluate its quality objectively.
