It is important to apply the research findings of music education and ethnomusicology to the inheritance of the traditional music to improve the diversity and effectiveness. And the inheritance of traditional music at school needs the guidance from theories of ethnomusicology and methodology of music education. This thesis studies the traditional music of Meilisi Dawur using the methods from ethnomusicology and experience from field work. We discussed the categories, music shapes, and the current status of the traditional music’s inheritance and how the traditional music is taught at local schools. The aim of the researches on traditional music culture and music shape is to write a book for traditional music teaching. The current status of inheritance is studied from three aspects:inheritance by government, inheritance by families and inheritance by communities. The effects and the problems of the three methods are also discussed. We conduct an experiment on traditional music teaching, which consists of surveys stage, practice stage and conclusion stage. At the survey stage, we study the current status of traditional music teaching at the local schools. And we find that traditional music teaching at local schools is.However, most students are interested in their traditional music. At the practice stage, courses of traditional music are taught by the teachers, the local singers and the inheritance men using the books written by us. And several surveys are conducted at the conclusion stage to find the opinions of the student about the courses. And from the surveys, we obtain the following conclusions:First, the government helps the inheritance of traditional music by organizing the traditional culture festivals and encouraging women to attend the courses of traditional music. The government plays an irreplaceable role in bringing traditional music to normal people. However, the government helps little on traditional music teaching at school. Second, Community actives of traditional music have a positive effluence on the peoples’ knowledge of traditional music. Third, when the parents care about traditional music study, the student will learn better. Based on our experiments of traditional music teaching, we find that music teaching at school can be an effective way of the inheritance of traditional music; Teaching by singing can be used as a method of music teaching at school; The pureness of the traditional music can be guaranteed by using both the local singer s and teachers to teach music courses. The value of this thesis lies in that we conduct traditional music teaching using knowledge of the local musicians, help the culture construction of our hometown, develop local courses, enrich the music courses at school and make effective use of teaching resource.
