As a film genre, when costume film is marked as the identity of "industry" and moving forward, it also means that the laws of market and business logic has become the most important force influencing the filmmaking. The relationship between culture and "commercialization" in the modern sense has the impact on film, other than presence as a native confrontationIn the meanwhile, the soaring economic index points out a question that the cultural content is rewritten. This article will be based on the current context of Chinese film in the new century. From the context of current situation of modern Chinese films, this article observed on the commercialization of Chinese costume films and analyzed the definition of culture, which draw our attention on the dual identities of costume films. By giving logical arguments and using real-life examples, it has made a detailed text analysis on the external form and content of Chinese costume films in modern times. The article also compared the essence of traditional Chinese culture with elements used in commercial costume films such as Emotion orientation, personality spirit, value and social ideal. The analysis has proved the symptom of Lose of Culture in modern Chinese commercial costume films and further more emphasized on the importance of cultural criticize on film production.
