The development of Chinese film has seen that rich history and culture have provided numerous materials for Chinese film types. The costume film comes from abundant traditional culture, which means it have unique narrative traditions from ancient oriental civilizations as well as aesthetic standards Chinese movie-goers formed over a thousand years. Since its appearance in 1820 s to the 21 th century, there has been“First-Release Phenomenon” for four times in Chinese film history that not only reflected changes of China’s political and economic climate but offered later film types double references at artistic and economic level, making great contributions to birth and growth of earlier film types.This paper studied the four-time “First-Release Phenomenon” of costume films in Chinese film history as point of penetration. First, it focused on aesthetic elements and the self type construction and type programming of costume films, analyzing its characteristics by means of communications studies with aims to find out a new foothold for costume films in the perspective of public communication studies. Second,it analyzed why the “First-Release Phenomenon” of costume films took place through“saturated communication”. As the core of this paper, this part analyzed the advantages and disadvantages of source-text communication power in the process of communication. The last part focused on text resource and capital resource value of“saturated communication” as well as transnational communication of national culture.This paper attempted to combine film ology and communication through the four-time“First-Release Phenomenon”, in an effort to reach an enlightening and innovative research conclusion about “First-Release Phenomenon” of costume films.
