A Study Of The Interpretation Of Culture-loaded Words From The Perspective Of Skopos Theory

Since the1980s till today, China has made unprecedented achievements on politics,economy and foreign affairs. With the increasingly frequent cultural communicationbetween China and the West, more and more people in the West are eager to learn about thebrilliant Chinese culture. In recent years, culture issues in interpreting are getting widerattention by scholars at home and abroad, especially the culture-loaded words interpreting.Culture-loaded words are the words with national culture. Study the interpreting of theseculture-loaded words are not only conducive to the development of linguistics, but alsoconducive to the people of all countries to better understand the Chinese culture. This paperaim to study the skopos theory perspective cultural-loaded words interpreting strategies onthe basis of previous studies.In this paper, the author introduces the definition, characteristics and criterion ofinterpreting at the beginning. It can be thus concluded that it is very difficult to interpretculture-loaded words. Then, the author puts forward the definition and classification ofculture-loaded words based on the research of previous studies. In the following part, thetheoretical framework of this paper is presented: Skopos theory and its research methods.Itis systematical generalized to the skopos theory formation and development, basic contentand interpreting criterion. In the end in the previous research, from skopos theoryperspective the author study culture-loaded words in interpreting, and identify targetedapproach to solve the problem of how to interpret culture-loaded words. Bothforeignization and domestication are analyzed in the thesis, at the same time, theinterpreting methods for culture-loaded words are studied in detail.It can be seen that the research of the culture-loaded words is still an arduous work.Culture-loaded words can directly reflect the history and culture of a given nation, so theprogress in interpreting of culture-loaded words also plays a decisive role in theinternational communication. Skopos theory is one of the most important theories intranslation, therefore the study of the interpretation of culture-loaded words from theperspective of Skopos theory is also very crucial in enhancing the over all level ofinterpreting study.
