On the traditional study of “LE”, the focus lay on explaining its meaning. Thenseparate it into several senses. Its reflection on Chinese teaching is to explain theword as a auxiliary verb, a constructional particle, or a modal particle. We know thatall of the senses share one original, while it is always on the course ofgrammaticalization. That is the reason why the meanings of the “LE” appear in thisway. In the other word, separating senses can’t help to study and to understand theword.“LE” is a function word, the word meaning is missed and the grammaticalfunction is instead. It works as a mark in a sentence. That is why Chinese learnerscan’t understand and use “LE” to make sentences. We have to find the mechanismbehind “LE” to solve the problem.The essay base on the bounded change theory, try to find the cognitive andgenerative mechanism of “LE”.
