Memetics is a new pragmatic theory to serve as a theoritical basis for languageteaching. This article is exploring to analyze the internal structure of memes andexternal relations among them from the perspective of synchronic and diachronicstudies, as well as to study the mechanism of duplicatation and transmission of memes.Then the author takes the serial verb structure as an example, with a cmbination ofteaching practices and survey, to look for new ways and methods to teach patterns ofsentence structures when teaching foreign students in terms of Memetics.This article consists of three parts.The first part is Introduction. It introduces the points of importance, they are thesignificance of the study, ways and methodology.The second part is themain body which includes four chapters. summarizestheories from the previous studies. The author divides them into three parts: studies onlinguistic memes from synchronic point of view; studies from diachronic point ofview; and literatures on studies on teaching from terms of Memetics. Chapter3studies the serial verb structure from three aspects, which are the definition and traitsof serial verb structure, classification of types, and studies on learning of serial verbstructure by overseas students. Chapter4is about practices of teaching serial verbstructure from the perspective of Memetics. The author divides the chapter into threeparts to respectively illustrate the fromation of aggressive memes of serial verbstructure, doing substitution drills and interval exercises, and emplementation ofexpansive teaching to enlarge the scope of memes. Chapter5is about the teaching strategies. It is of the greatest importance. The author analyzes and concludes theteaching strategies of sentence patterns from the point of Memetics.The third part is conclusion. It concludes the whole article to further illustrate theauthors idea and to recommend innovations,shorcomings and future studies. |
