This paper is from the point of the standard of audience needs, just likemotivation, aim, orientation and evaluation. access to a national television audienceratings survey authoritative data and the “Uses and Gratifications” classical theory forAn investigation. Try to present the characteristics of the documentary channel of ourcountry.There are two research objects of this paper, the documentary channel and theneeds of audience. Compared with most documentary research, the author put theaudience on the Important position but not the Background elements. So the premiseof this paper is the Audience theory. This can help us to know the development ofdocumentary channel and the needs of audience are consistent or not.The beginning of the paper is narrated the changes of the needs of audience inour country since the entering of TV coming in our country. Especially in late80s,television programs in our country has made a rapidly development. According to theresult of the previous five CSM-CCTV “a national television audience ratings survey",the author detailed analysis the characteristic of the need of audience of the time.The second chapter introduce the other key that the situation about CCTVdocumentary channel. CCTV9analysis the establishment, development and thecontents of the programme characteristics of CCTV9. As the first professionaldocumentary channel of the national coverage, CCTV9is playing a vital role inpromoting our TV program quality, turning the TV show excessive entertainment andlead viewers are viewing habits.The third and the forth part are the keys of this paper. After take a questionnaireto citizens in Changchun city to a random sampling survey, analysis nearly500samples of data, Summed up the audiences in different gender, age, record of formalschooling and the career. The forth part use the “Uses and Gratifications” classicaltheory to analysis the watching habits and the Motivation, aim, orientation, evaluationand satisfaction of the audiences and give some suggestions to CCTV9.The documentary is not lack of audiences,but need a opportunity to close topublic. CCTV9provide such an opportunity for documentary to close to public,andLet the television documentary garner and public praise win-win situation。...
