The redundancy phenomenon is an important linguists in recent decades.Theredundancy phenomenon is a reasonable phenomenon in the dynamic process oflanguage,and one of the essential characteristics of the language.The production of thisphenomenon has a certain motivation.At present,the linguists research the redundancyphenomenon focusing on the phenomenon of the classification,characteristics,causes,effectsand lexical semantic redundancy analysis. But less research when Modern Chinese functionwords as redundancy.The paper mainly from the semantics and topic marking function ofprepositions combing the redundancy structure mechanism and situational semantic relationmode when preposition as maker of sentences.Scholars research the redundancy of syntactic and semantic levels is mainlyconcentrated on the function word′s negative marker function and thematic meta tagfunction.This thesis select the prepositional marking sentence,researching the redundancy ofsemantic markup function of the preposition.The first chapter investigate Modern Chinese redundancy phenomenon on themacroscopic scale.Early linguists of the redundancy phenomenon emphasis on the study ofits nature,classification and causes.The recent scholars are research into redundancystructure,semantic,pragmatic features and fuctions.The second chapter elaborate the theory relate to the study and researchmethods.According to the semantic grammar,the Chinese function word is a semantic markwhich is able to show specific category semantic and relationship.So the thesis useMarkedness Theory to discuss the preposition semantic markup capabilities.The conceptmark founded by Nikolay Trubetzkoy,the phonologist of Prague School,in the1930s.Afterdeveloping by Roman Jakobson,Noam Chomsky,Lyons and other linguists,MarkednessTheory become a more complete theoretical system,and it can be used to analyse variousaspects of language.First of all,this chapter comb the background,main idea of Markednesstheory,as well as the application in semantics,pragmatics and other mordenlinguistics.Next,it generalize the function of Markedness Theory for research on Chineseontology and teaching Chinese as a foreign language.The third chapter investigates the mechanism form sentence when preposition asredundancy composition in preposition maeked sentence.There have redundancy whenpreposition as a thematic marker and topic mark function,the paper analyse the semanticfeatures of predicate verb and syntactic component when preposition semantic function isredundancy,such as ‘BEI’,‘BA’,‘ZAI’,‘ZI’,‘DA’,‘XIANG’,‘LIAN’,‘YI’.The fourth chapter investigates the model of situational and semantic′s relations insentence.In this chapter,the first part introduces the situational theory.The second part analyse syntactic and semantic mapping mode,for example‘,GEI’ can be classified a lot ofsyntactic and semantic mapping modes,such as “passive”,“disposal”.The last chapter briefly summarized preposition′s rhetorical effect when it isredundancy. Grammatically,the preposition redundancy can clear and coordinategrammatical structure.Semantically, the preposition redundancy can strengthen anothermorpheme′s semantics,highlight recessive semantics.Pragmatically,the prepositionredundancy can strengthen tone,supplement emotion.
