| Symbols are human habitual ways of thinking and modes of communication. As a human cultural phenomenon, we can see symbols in all spheres of culture of all peoples. Dance is the most symbolic category of the arts and human cultural phenomenon, hence, a study of folk dance has an important significance to understand dance and even the background cultural of the dance. Among the people, symbolic phenomenon is extraordinary active, therefore folk dance has reflected symbol concentratively. Folk dance has formed an integral part of the folk customs. Behind its aesthetic function, there are social and cultural functions in deeper side. China has a long history, vast territory, numerous ethnic groups, therefore, folk dance is extremely various. Folk dance rooted in folk customs:ritual, witchcraft, weddings and funerals, labor productivity, festivals and entertainment......A variety of folk activities interwove into a network containing folk dance. Dance movements, formations, props, clothes, occasions, the various components and aspects are with symbols. Deep cultural connotations are hidden behind each symbol.In this paper, folk dance "Duodi" from the southern Gansu Zhouqu where is Tibetan and Qiang domicile, the "dance of sheepskin drum" of Gansu Weiyuan as well as religious dance"Vcham" in the eastern part of Qinghai Tibetan Buddhist monasteries Tar. have been taken as example. Base on this, we try to explore and analyse the symbols in folk dance, and some of their basic properties, characteristics and laws. |
