This is a translation project report of Teaching English Using ICT: A practicalguide for secondary school teachers (Chapter2--Using ICT to Analyse Language),written by Tom Rank,Chris Warren and Trevor Millumis. Belonging to informativetext, the selected text is a practical guide, which aims at transmitting information,so the translator should focus his attention on target language, and mainly thinkabout whether the target language truthfully and smoothly expresses the originalinformation. As to this kind of text, the translator should mostly usecommunicative translation theory, translate on the basis of “Target languagereaders are the first”, and emphasize the reappearance of the original subject andthe social impact and value of the translation. According to this theory, this reportintroduces and analyzes the problems during translation, attempting to find the bestway to combine communicative translation theory and informative text. This reportcan be divided into four chapters: Chapter One gives a brief introduction about thetranslation project, including the background information, objectives andsignificance of the project and the structure of this report. Chapter Two is thebackground information of research, including theoretical principle, informationabout the three authors, main context and analysis of the source text. Chapter Threeanalyzes the difficulties met, lists the preparation done, and put forward specificsolutions to the difficulties met during translation. The conclusion of this report isin Chapter Four, mainly about the experience, lessons and unsolved problems inthe translation process. |
