With the in-depth development of China's social economy and the continued advance of sci-tech civilization, people have paid more and more attention to higher education, which has also promoted the innovation, reform and development of colleges and universities in China. However,it is undeniable that,in terms of the educational internationalization and economic globalization in the present world, colleges and universities in China have encountered all kinds of difficulties and challenges in the process of improving educational quality and promoting intensive growth. Therefore,it is necessary to begin by considering innovating the internal management system and operation mechanism of colleges and universities,so as to meet the needs of China's social economy and university development as well as pave the way for the high-quality development of schools. At present, the United States leads the world in terms of the research on college governance system and capacity, and its advanced educational ideas and successful governance experience have enjoyed wide recognition and growing respect from colleges and universities around the world and in China as well. Therefore,it is of great and profound significance to translating works on the ideas, systems and models of modern college governance from a global perspective, and thus improving college governance structure in our new era to accelerate the modernization of education. The original text of the translation practice report is selected from the first three chapters of How to Run a College: A Practical Guide for Trustees,Faculty,Administrators, and Policymakers.Under the guidance of the German scholar HansVermeer's Skopos Theory, the author, based on the core principle of “Skopos rule-the first principle to be followed in all translation activities”,adopts a variety of flexible translation strategies and methods to translate some typical text-cases from a lexical, syntactic and textual level in view of the linguistic characteristics of the informative text, attempting to make the translation consistent with the target language reader's reading habits and experience while accurately transmitting the source text information.Through the translation practice and the writing of the research report, the author has a more profound and thorough understanding of Skopos Theory and a more detailed and in-depth understanding of the methods commonly used in informative text translation. This not only lays a foundation for the translation of other text types in the future, but also provides some reference and inspiration for translators who are committed to translation in this field.
