With the advancement of science and technology and the development of the times,new technologies are emerging.Smart city is the product of the development of Internet technology,and it is also the key strategic technology and means to lead the innovation of information industry in the future.The source text of this practice report is Demystifying Smart Cities,which are the chapter one and two of technological book.The two chapters mainly discuss the future form of smart cities and technical analysis.The author hopes to promote the development of smart cities in China.Under the guidance of communicative translation theory,the report analyzes how to translate technological texts from the lexical,syntactic and textual levels with specific examples based on the language characteristics of technological texts.At the lexical level,the abbreviation list can improve the translation efficiency and quality.The author adopts the literal translation,non-translation and analogy generation method to translate abbreviations and terminology to make the translation more readable.At the syntactic level,the author uses the linear translation,omission translation,passive-active conversion method and addition of cohesion words to solve the problem of large number of passive sentences and long and difficult sentences in technical English,so as to make the sentences more accurate and understandable.At the textual level,the author adopts the methods of free translation,linear translation,omission,division and conjunction to solve the problem of cohesion and coherence.The translation is more logical and more in line with readers’ reading habits.Through this translation practice,the author studies the application of communicative translation theory and skills in technological texts and summarizes the key points and difficulties in the translation of technological texts.It hopes that this report can provide some references for the similar translation texts in the future. |
