The translator has accomplished this translation project report based on thetranslation project of an United States patent document-By-pass Valves for Heatexchanger from English to Chinese, which has done by the translator on her own.Aiming at the distinctiveness of the scientific and technological translation andbeing guided by the theoretical foundation the translation equivalence with W.Koller’s three equivalence categories as the main principals,this report hasreflected the specific process of translation. In addition, by means of exploring theways of achieving the accuracy of the original text through analyzing the detailedinstances within the case study, the translator has discussed several translationskills and strategies.Meanwhile, regarding the difficult problems in translating scientific and technological texts, the translator has also offered some relatedsuggestions.This report aims at summarizing the the translation project of the UnitedStates patent document-By-pass Valves for Heat exchanger, through makinganalysis and argumentation from different aspects, which shows that by achievingpragmatic equivalence, formal-aesthetic equivalence as well as text normativeequivalence guided by the translation equivalence theory. the translatoraccomplishes to ensure the translation quality of this scientific and technologicaltexts. It is focused on the significant standards of guaranteeing the accuracy inscientific and technological translations under the translation equivalence theory.
