The Han dynasty lasted more than four hundred years from202BC to220AD, which is a feudal empire full of vigor and vitality. And the gold and silver articles and utensils of Han dynasty, which represents wealth and status have been superior to the period before221BC in numbers, in the varieties, in the craft and in the patterns. Based on the archaeological materials, this paper is trying to study the gold and silver wares of the Han dynasty. Mainly includes following parts:The first chapter, introduction part. Mainly clear the time category of the Han dynasty and briefly introduce the research achievements and significance of this paper.The second chapter, historical records about gold and silver articles in the Han dynasty. Documents of the Han dynasty mainly record the producing area, the quality and mining methods of gold and silver. From these records, we can see the amount of gold in the Han dynasty was more than any dynasties in the history. And then analysis the reasons.The third chapter, archaeological findings of gold and silver objects of Han dynasty.The forth chapter, gold and silver ware types. The gold and silver wares of Han dynasty can be classified to five kinds:ornaments, utensils, coins, seals and medical appliances.The fifth chapter, gold and silver crafts. This chapter mainly introduces the origin of crafts and the main craft types, including hammering craft, found craft, engraving craft, pasting gold-leaf craft, gold-plating craft, madding gold and silver thread and bead craft.The conclusion of this paper is summarized, and pointed out the deficiencies of this paper.
