When a lot of films and television programs such as spy drama, Idol drama,Court drama andfamily ethics drama are playing on TV, A beautiful documentary which contains full of humanfeelings and cultural deposits just as a breath of fresh air have made audience excited. Also, thebutterfly effect triggered by the "a bite of China" which the basic features of are a true record andoriginal ecology are continuing after the first season have broadcasted. This paper focuses on theresearch of national characteristics of "a bite of China" in content and form and discusses the culturaltheme expression, life situation representation, life story narrative or other concept and technique ofshooting. There is significance and strong effect on the creation and development of Chinesedocumentary in the forest of World documentary.The focus of the first four chapters of this paper are content analysis and text interpretation of "abite of China". Through the vivid expression of the documentary about the human food and naturalgifts, People’s lives and human relationships, Lingering homesickness and folk customs, we canunderstand the conclusion that this documentary how to construct and express the theme and therelationship between Chinese food and national culture and how to successfully spread the Chinesefood culture. The last chapterof this paper researchs audio-visual features and analysis of narrative mode of "a bite of China"with documentary theory perspective. The documentary is not only in the cultural theme, but also inthe picture and sound image, are full of ethnic characteristics. In addition to the introduction, the titleof each chapter is: the first chapter, food and "the unity of heaven and man"; the second chapter, foodand people life; the third chapter, food and family homesickness; the fourth chapter, food and local customs; the fifth chapter, audio-visual narrative of national characteristics.
