One Hundred Buddhist Parables (百喻经), with the full name of One Hundred Buddhist Epigrammatic Parables, was extracted from twelve canons in Xiu Duo Luo Zang (修多罗藏)by Jiasina (伽斯那), a monk in ancient India. Its short and epigrammatic style attracts many eyes of people. Its language is concise and.abundant in oral composition. It truly reflected Chinese grammar features of The Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties. It is of great value in studying the Chinese language.This paper, following the traditional principle of collecting words, covers four categories of supporting words, namely adverb, preposition, conjunction, auxiliary. Detailed analyses are also employed to explain the word class, usage, meaning, function and illustration. The context is also taken into consideration for a better understanding on the entry.This paper is divided into five chapters, with each chapter for one category. First, we have a short introduction of the work, its compiler, translator, edition, content and current study situations. In chapter two, three, four and five, we respectively introduces the adverb, preposition, conjunction, and auxiliary. Several sections are also classified for the purpose of accounting the frequency, describing the usage and comparing the similarities and differences of various supporting words. A summary is presented at the end of each chapter to reveal the general picture of middle ancient Chinese supporting words.
