One hundred buddhist parables is the kind of Chinese buddhist scriptures,which formed of short stories to convey deep lessons.The stories almost contain dialogues among people,and interrogative sentences are the most popular means.The first chapter makes a brief introduction of the One hundred buddhist parables,including author,translator,time of writing,version,then summarizes research on it,and points out importance and methodology in the paper.The second chapter is a detailed description of the type in interrogative sentences,and analyses their meanings and functions.The third chapter concentrates on the interrogative signs in those sentences,such as interrogative pronoun,interrogative adverb,discourse maker,then makes clear the relationship,between signs and sentences.To definite the characters of the interrogative sentences in One hundred buddhist parables,the forth chapter is a comparative study on four documents,named Zhouziliang's dreams,memories of Lo-yang and Yan's family instructions,which are emerged in the same time called Southern and Northern Dynasties in China.The last chapter focus on the value of pragmatics in dialogues.On the one hand,the article makes use of the hierarchy theory put forward by Duanyehui,and outlines regular patterns in the interrogative hierarchy.On the other hand,eight functions in language use are summed up,consisted of inquiry,confusion,blame,suggestion,revelations,rebuttal,emphasis and decisive proof.
