Youth movie can not be regarded as a strict classification of the film from the definition of genre films. But when we look back upon the Chinese and foreign movie history, expression of the young person’s images has never been interrupted in the east and west movie screens.Youth movie has been one of the symbol type of movie in Taiwan,Since Lin Qingjie and Xu Jinliang’s student film in the last century the end of70’s till the "Taiwanese New Film" in the80’s,youth movies has been flourished in Taiwan and produced a series of excellent work. After entering the new millennium, Taiwanese youth movie still keeps a strong vitality. It started with "Blue Gate", and then the market emerged a large number of fresh and natural movies which also acquired positive effects.Youth film directors wander between the cracks of business and personal creation in a extremely flexible way.They inject a glimmer of light into the depressed Taiwan film industry. In mainland China,owing to the history,traditional culture and social development,youth movie was not the main stream movie in chinaJn a long time,there was any real youth movie strictly. Until the1990s when the sixth generation director standed on the film stage,there appeared a great quantity of movies which reflect the rebellious youth and growing pains.After entering the new millennium,the mainland youth film begins to expand to a larger and wider Cenozoic group.lt shows a trend towards the youth consumption.Youth movie present a varied landscape. There are not only the works expressing emories and reflection about special period’s youth,but also commercial works closing to the era and focusing on the present young people’s living condition. As a kind of film phenomenon, these two regions present a totally different style, but they are all appeared under the multiple influence of political and market, individuals and groups, aesthetics and industrial which mutually integrated and competed with each other.The relevent theoretical research may not keep in step with productive creation of youth movie.For a long time.academic research on youth movie either confined to individual cases or focused on the aesthetic interpretation.The former cut-in point is relatively single.and the latter idea is repeated. So it lack of comprehensive combing and comparison on cross-strait youth movie which is a stereo,multi-dimensional and developing film phenomenon.This article try to systematically discuss the cross-strait youth movie from the point of general history including economic, social, and aesthetic concepts since2000.The text is divided into such parts:The introduction part mainly clarifies the concept of youth movie and provides a brief overview of the development of the cross-strait youth movie.The first chapter deeply analyses the different context which the cross-strait youth movie are rooted in from the perspectives of production environment.film policy.growth background of the youth film directors.and social culture.The second chapter is to start with motif.narrative structure, narrative space,and the image style to compare aesthetically the expressions of the cross-strait youth movie.The third chapter further summeds up their uniqueness on the expression strategy of the cross-strait youth movie, and analyses every aspect.The fourth chapter regards "You Are The Apple Of My Eye"and "Waiting Alone"as the representative work of the cross-strait youth movie.and compared them.The conclusion part points out their respective problems at this stage based on the development status of the cross-strait youth movie.and summarizes the whole article.
