| This thesis aims to solve two major stylistic issues that the translation team faced in carrying out the translation project Tourism in China—Policy and development since1949, the first monograph of its kind in the world. First, what is the style to be established for the target text? What should be done to unify the style for the team to follow in translating the whole monograph into Chinese?To unify the style, the Author takes the translation of Chapter7as an illustrative example for the other team members to follow:(1) The team leader is responsible for providing the paratext she has prepared as an exemplary text with four themes, which demonstrates how to analyze the stylistic markers in the theme-related source text and how to achieve the stylistic correspondence/equivalence in the target text.(2) The translations rendered by the other members should be stylistically correspondent with the paratext in terms of lexical, syntactical, and textual levels (as well as style-sheet, which is prepared by one of the team members).(3) Each member should provide his/her trial-translation and get it approved before s/he starts his/her part of the project.(4) The translation schedule should be met.The total number of Chinese characters of the target text (Chapter7) translated by this Author is21394. |
