This is a translation project report. The source text of this projectreport is the conference report of the Fifth Ministerial Conference onEnvironment and Health Divided into four parts, this report focuses onthe difficulties the author encountered and the different methods andstrategies the author adopted during the translation.The difficulties lie in the translation of long sentences, passivesentences, specialized terminology, acronyms and proper nouns such asperson names and organization names. Guided by the functionaltranslation theory, the report illustrates how the translation methods ofconversion, inversion, amplification, omission and splitting are used tosolve these problems with the examples from this translation practice. Itsuggests that a flexible application of these strategies requires adequateawareness of the similarities and differences between two languages.
