San Chao Bei Meng Hui Bian is compiled by Xu Mengshen inSong Dynasty. It is a very important document to study the relationshipbetween Song and Jin at that time. Containing great masses of pricelesshistorical records as well as the negotiating words between Song andJin, it is the valuable data for investigating the colloquial language ofSong dynasty. In order to have a better synchronic description aboutYan Shuo verbs in San Chao Bei Meng Hui Bian, this thesis adopts thedescriptive ways of both qualitative and quantitative analysis, andcombining the form and meaning.This thesis is made up of three chapters.The first chapter is a general introduction to the research. Thispart mainly explains the reason for choosing this subject andsummarizes the research status of San Chao Bei Meng Hui Bian andYan Shuo verb, meanwhile, analyzes the aim, significance and methodof the study. At last, it introduces some theories of cognitive linguisticsand the conceptual field which are related to this thesis. The second chapter is the most important part in this thesis. Itcontains six sections, respectively describing the conceptual field ofShuo Hua, Tan Lun, Xun Wen, Gao Su, Lang Du and Ze Ma. Thechapter endeavors to make a synchronic description of the frequency inusage and the collocation of each member in the conceptual field,distinguishes the differences in usage among members, and analyzesthe distribution of them in the conceptual field.The last chapter concludes the thesis with a brief summary inwhich the characters and distribution of Yan Shuo verbs are concludedby contrasting every Yan Shuo verb in San Chao Bei Meng Hui Bian.
