Streaming teaching refers to distinguished teaching by dividing into different levels or classes because of obvious difference existing in aspects of students' academic basic knowledge, intelligence and non-intellectual factors. Meanwhile, students choose class which is good for self promotion according to their own abilities, interests and aspirations. Starting from the real situation of different level students, the school sets different detailed requirements and carries out different teaching. Streaming teaching is an important explore for English teaching in high vocational school. It helps students to cultivate subjective consciousness, helps teachers to express spirit of creation and helps to increase efficiency in classroom. This paper is divided into four parts:introduction, literature review, main body and conclusion.In the introduction, it analyzes the research background and reasons to choose the topic and the status of English teaching in high vocational schools, discusses the significance of the study, and gives studying methods and the main content and innovation of this study. Streaming teaching is to adapt to the requirements of quality education, is the requirements of the reform trend of foreign language teaching at home and abroad, as well as requirements of improving competitiveness on career for high vocational students. Streaming teaching is also the requirements of status of English teaching in high vocational school and it is good for teaching different level students.In the literature review, it analyzes the meaning of the streaming teaching, reviews the history of streaming teaching, points out the theoretical basis of streaming teaching, and summarizes the status of studying streaming teaching at home and abroad.The main body of the paper can be divided into two parts. partâ… is about surveying on and analyzing streaming teaching of high vocational English. In this part, at first, it states the objectives, target and content of the survey. The content of the survey includes:survey and study on curriculum status of streaming teaching of high vocational English, survey on applicability of streaming teaching of high vocational English during class, survey on overall quality of high vocational English teachers, survey on teachers'teaching methods of streaming teaching, and survey on assessment methods of streaming teaching of high vocational English. Based on survey, it analyzes the questionnaire and offers problems existing in streaming teaching of high vocational English. These questions are:unreasonable curriculum of streaming teaching of high vocational English, out of practice, weak ability of English application, quality of high vocational English teacher needed to be improved, obsolete English teaching methods, irrational teaching assessment methods, unitary textbook and difficult English. Partâ…¡is about the major measures to improve levels of streaming teaching of high vocational English. These measures are:improving curriculum of high vocational English teaching, close contacting with practice, increase the applicability of English, comprehensively improving the quality of high vocational English teachers, improving English teaching methods, reforming assessment methods on high vocational English, composing textbooks according to real conditions of the school, and focusing on building human-cared English class.
