This essay figured out that the most important characteristic of Wang Meng’s novelsis the separation between “Belief” and “History”.In case of the “Belief”,the characters inWang Meng’s novels not only admitted the eternity of the revolutionary ethics, but alsodouted the ethics based on their experiences.In case of the “History”,the characters had thedesire to rethink about themselves.However, they lost their courage due to their belief.Theyare the Weaks on both conditions. Rethinking and reminiscence are the two themes inWang Meng’novels. This essay tried to find the particular ways in Wang Meng’s novels tomould the Weaks by the method of narratologies.The author used the theory of Greimas todivide the Weaks into five types of mixed-actants.The author reached twoconclusions:firstly,the Rethinking is the most basic themes;Secondly,the rethinking onculture and the reminiscence of the politics are isomorphic.
