This article summarized the results of previous research about the definition, classification, the distinctive characteristic of Comparison, and then observing the Comparison from the point of Lexicology, Pragmatics and Semantics. The focus of this article still placed the Comparison on the framework of the Cognitive linguistics, analyzing the generation mechanism of Comparison, especially in the perspective of metaphor, the formation mechanism of the Comparison, the cognitive subject in comparable mental processes in the generation mechanism is how to achieve. The whole article includes five parts:The first section reviews the Comparison’s definition and classification of the scholars have made. Developing from the definition of Mr. Chen Wangdao, we summarized the positive significance of Mr. Chen Wangdao’s definition briefly, as well as the discussion of all the scholars on the Mr. Chen Wangdao’s definition. Introduce classification standards and the results of the scholars from both inside and outside of the angle of Comparison. The second section describes the Comparison’s three elements-body, body intends and intends words, as well as the relationship between these three elements of Comparison. We discussed the difference between the Comparison and its relative speech-Metaphor, Transferred, Zeugma on the base of analysis about Comparison’s feature. The third section discussed the Comparison on the point of Lexicology, Pragmatics and Semantics. The Comparison has two effects on the Lexicology. On the one hand, the Comparison can become a way of word-building to create new words; on the other hand, some senses of Polysemies formed by solid usage of Comparison in the long-term usage. It also can be used as a kind of polysemy derived from the meaning of the Comparison. Comparison has obeyed the principles of cooperation, and this violation is intentional by speaker, speaker fail to comply with the principles of cooperation and obedient people cross the surface of the meaning of words to derive the meaning of the session. On the point of Semantic, the surface form of language and the deep meaning has difference, in order to understand the Comparison’s real meaning, the obedient people must look for the similarity between the body and intends body. The fourth section discussed the generation mechanism of the Comparison on the point of the cognitive. The first part derived from the meaning of cognition and Cognitive Linguistics to prove the Comparison can be placed in the framework of the cognitive research. The second part analyzes the role of metaphorical thinking on the Comparison, discussing the origin domain of speech and target domain is how to achieve mapping. The two cognitive domains formed mapping by the similarity, and the similarity is formed by the no intention to processing, shallow intended processing, similar association and the creative imagination and empathy of the cognitive subject. At the same time, after the analysis of the role of the psychological mechanism of the cognitive subject, the Comparison and the Metaphor and the Transferred are Homologous. Finally, we discussed the role of the context between the two cognitive domains’ mapping. On the one hand, it limits the cognitive domain and similar choice, on the other hand, the context has impact on the understanding of the Comparison. The fifth part summarized the article. In this article, we study the Comparison on the point of Lexicology, Pragmatics, Semantics and Cognitive. General researches of the Comparison just focused on the certain point, lacking of multi-dimensional perspective. We try to resolve some of the disputed issues about the Comparison from the multi-angle, hoping to have some help on the further scientific and systematic research.
