There are a lot of similarities between Chinese and Korean four-character i dioms in terms of meaning and form. Mastering the features of idioms’interna1structure and grammatical function is of a great help in knowing the differenc es and similarities between the two languages, and will also effectively increas e learners’ability in idiom’s application. Given this, this dissertation takes the synonym idioms (idioms of the same form and meaning) between Chinese and Kore an as the research subject, trying to point out the differences and similarities o f their internal structure and grammatical function.Firstly, through the comparison of Chinese’Xinhua dictionary of idioms’a nd’Korean dictionary of story idioms’, this paper makes a definition of Chines e and Korean synonym idioms, describes and classifies in the two aspects of pr ediction and substantive by collecting Chinese and Korean synonym idioms. It t hen screened commonly used modern Chinese idioms by searching Chinese Ian guage material database developed by Peking University and Korean21st Shizho ng plan corpus, which forms in this paper a small database of456homographs.Secondly, this paper makes an analysis of idioms’internal structure of Chi nese and Korean synonym idioms, which can be separated into eight structures of coordinative, modification, subject-predicate, verb-object, adverbial, serial ver b, compact and subjective-object. Substantive idioms can be divided into both s tructures of coordinative and structure of modification. It also makes a statistic of the number of synonym idioms with different internal structures and their p roportions.In conclusion, we will first make a comparative study between Chinese an d Korean synonym idioms of the same form and pronunciation, then a compar ative analysis based on the syntactic function, discuss the subject, object, predi cate, attribute, adverb and complement’s function in the Chinese and Korean la nguages. We will also observe the synonym idioms syntactic function’similarities and differences in the two languages.
