With the continuous advance of globalization, the issue of global governance hasbeen more and more popular. Accompanied by the worsening global environment inrecent years, global environmental governance, as an important part of globalgovernance, has been paid more attentions. Against this background, the internationalenvironmental NGOs developed rapidly, which has become an important body ofglobal environmental governance. International environmental NGOs activelyinvolved in the development and reformation of international environmentalmechanisms,make effort to enhance people’s awareness of environmental protection,provide professional environmental knowledge and so on. Meanwhile, theinternational environmental NGOs’ roles are subjected to many factors, includingboth internal and external.This paper attempts to make a comprehensive description of the role of and thefactors that influence international environmental NGOs’ role in the globalenvironmental governance. By analyzing the case of Greenpeace, this paper try toelaborate international environmental NGO’s role in global environmental governanceand their shortcomings, so as to explore the development trend of internationalenvironmental NGO and China’s response.
