Many crude oils produced in China are the high-pour-point waxy crude or the heavy crude with poor flow ability, the heating transportation process are generally applied to pipeline. The operation cost of the heating transportation process is mainly composed of power consumption cost and fuel cost. Often due to unreasonable operating parameters of the pipeline, resulting in the energy consumption of the pipeline running high, the cost is too large. Therefore, it is necessary to study energy-saving operation of a crude oil pipeline.In order to reduce the production energy consumption of the domestic oil and gas pipelines, in the end of2010, CNPC oil and gas control center commissioned the Southwest Petroleum University to research the issue which is about the energy consumption prediction module development and system integration for oil and gas pipeline. In this paper, I research on the energy consumption and saving energy for the crude oil pipelines.(1) Conducted a survey on major domestic pipeline process, the operation mode, the energy consumption of equipment and operating parameters. Collected data, including the design parameters of the pipeline, production and operating records, crude oil physical parameters and environmental parameters, establish the database of crude oil pipeline.(2) According to the process characteristics of the crude oil pipeline, with the cost of production energy consumption as the minimum objective function, with the combination of the pump and the inlet temperature of heating stations as the independent variables, with the entry and exit temperature, entry and exit pressure, pump unit power, furnace heat load, hydraulic and heat consumption of the entire pipeline as constraints, establish the optimal operation mathematical model of crude oil pipeline. Analyze the hydraulic and thermal calculation method of pipeline.(3) Using the Genetic Algorithms to solve the mathematical model. Presented a new genetic algorithm coding strategy to the combination of the pump. Improved selection, crossover and mutation operators of genetic algorithm. Used the improved genetic algorithm to solve the mathematical model, and given out solution steps and flow chart.(4) With Visual Basic6.0program development platform, developed the energy-saving software for crude oil pipeline. The software used to optimize the inlet temperature of heating stations and the combination of the pump for heating transportation pipelines. The main function of the software include:connecting pipeline database, read the crude oil pipeline running parameters; generating the running program automatically(population initialization), performing the genetic operations (selection, crossover and mutation), to seek the optimal solution on the program; output and display the optimize result. (5) To analyze energy consumption for Shikong to Lanzhou crude oil pipeline. With the oil physical parameters, the design parameters of the pipeline, characteristic parameters of the pump unit, fuel prices and electricity prices and other parameters, using the energy-saving software for crude oil pipeline to make an analysis. Optimized the part of the transmission capacity and seasonal operating programs, and analyzed the main factors of the energy cost of the pipeline.
