The down-the-hole drills are mainly used in middle deep-hole drilling and blasting operations in metal and nonmetal opencast mines with the development of increasing modem mines mechaniczation. However, a large amount of dust is produced during the tools drilling in drilling work platforms which causes the dust concentration in work platforms is far exceed quota, especially in small-scale and opencast quarries.The high dust concentration will pollute the work environment not only, but also serious threat to the health of staffs and seriously affecting work proficiency, as well. It is extremely necessary to develop the drill dust collectors which are with higher efficiency of dust removal, lower pressure, lower weight, convenience of use and suited to the circumstances in opencast mines in order to solve such difficult problem in drill dust-removing at present.The present situation and technical level of drill dust-removing and the content into practice both at home and abroad is studied in this paper. A new type of lightweight wet vibration dust collector has been successfully developed on the basis of the mechanism of dust collection by atomizing and the theory of wet vibration.The lightweight wet vibration collector laboratory bench was designed and set up. The properties of mine dust and talc powder, such as the particle-size and wettability were determined. Through orthogonal experimental design, the main factors that influence the lightweight wet vibration collector’s efficiency and resistance of dust removal was evolved. Based on the influencing factors of performance of dust removal, the impacts of filtering air velocity, atomizing water consumption, the number of vibration fiber grids and atomizing distance on the efficiency of dust removal and resistance were studied. The optimal parameter level of the collector has been drawn through single-factor experiment. The dust removal efficiency is as high as98.13%, dust resistance is only200-400Pa under the following parameter level:the air velocity is equal to4~5.5m/s,the pieces of the filter to2, the atomizing water consumption is equal to1.2~1.6L/min and the atomizing distance is equal to10~16cm.Wet vibration filtration technology is a new composite and high-efficient dust removal mechanism. In this paper, the theory of the wet vibration filtration technology is analyzed. Based on the study of wet fiber grid efficiency and resistance of dust removal, the formulas of efficiency and resistance of dust removal about the lightweight wet vibration collector has been got.
