| With the rapid development of urbanization and industrialization, cities have been created enormous material and spiritual wealth. But cities are consuming more and more energy, and the resulting worldwide climate warming and a chain reaction are becoming increasingly serious, threatening to human survival and development. In this context,"low-carbon city "concept came into being.Building a low-carbon city has become the direction and goals of modern cities. Different cities of different countries have different conditions for the development. Based on the reality of China’s urban development, this article borrows the low-carbon city development evaluation system released by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences to evaluate Nanjing’s low-carbon level. From four aspects:low-carbon output, low-carbon consumption, low-carbon resources, and low-carbon policies, this article not only evaluates the low-carbon construction status and level of Nanjing, and also explores policies and measures to improve Nanjing’s low-carbon level. This article is divided into six parts:introduction, basic theory of low-carbon city, analysis of status quo conditions of low-carbon city development in Nanjing, evaluation of Nanjing’s low-carbon ctiy development level, suggestions for Nanjing developing low-carbon city, and conclusions and outlook. The first part introduces the research background of low-carbon city, the content and significance of this research, methods, technology roadmap, and so on. The second part defines the concept of low-carbon city, compares similarities and differences between related concepts to explore the influencing factors of low-carbon city’s construction, and finally introduces the theoretical basis of low-carbon city. The third part describes Nanjing’s natural, economic, and social development profiles, analyzes Nanjing economic development, energy consumption growth, the evolution of urban spatial structure and so on. It also compares these to carbon emissions trends. The fourth part as the focus of the article, first uses the evaluation system of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, from four aspects:low-carbon output, low-carbon consumption, low-carbon resources, low-carbon policies to evaluate low-carbon city development level of Nanjing, then compares the corresponding data of low-carbon pilot cities so as to identify gaps and deficiencies. On the basis of Nanjing’s policy efforts building low-carbon city, for the current deficiencies and problems, the fifth part builds a low-carbon city development pattern for Nanjing. Then from promoting the optimization and upgrading of industrial structure, adjusting energy consumption structure, speeding up the construction of low-carbon buildings and other three aspects, this part proposes the main content of the low-carbon city construction and suggestions for Nanjing. Finally, Section6summarizes the conclusions of the evaluation and recommended practices. |
