As the high-speed punch is widely used in product manufacturing, the improvement of its reliability has become a focus of current research. Based on failure analysis, reliability analysis methods were adopted to analyze some factors affecting the reliability of high-speed punch. It provides a basis for improving the reliability of the high-speed punch. The main research works in this paper conclude:1. According to the acquired reliability data of high-speed punch, the reliability evaluation indicators of high-speed punch were calculated by traditional mean method, and the distribution fitting of these data was achieved by reliability analysis software, which has made an actual assessment for reliability of the machine.2. A reliability test platform of high-speed punch was built in order to provide convenient fault detection and determination and set a foundation for analyzing the reliability of high-speed punch.3. A reliability analysis method combining improved FMEA and FTA were employed to analyze the high-speed punch and its weak links (in main transmission system), consequently, the factors which have effects on the reliability were identified and some corresponding preventive measures and improvements were proposed. This provides a basis for enhancing the reliability of high-speed punch.4. Some further analysis of fracture morphology and micro structure of crankshaft, which has significant effect on the reliability of main transmission system, were taken to figure out the important factors affecting its reliability. Simultaneously, through the probability design technique based on FEA method, the reliability analysis of crankshaft was completed, especially for the situations under the influence of random variables, and the effect resulted from each random variable was obtained by sensitivity analysis as well. The result provides a basis for security checking and reliability improvement of the crankshaft.
