Elderly Health Care Product Design Research

China has stepped into aging society in fast pace, and the trend is greatly escalating. The health concept of the aging population has preferred to daily precaution and self monitor. Most research on the electronic health-care products for the elderly is stopped at an overbroad concept, and little is embed into actual application. So generally it’s lack of instructive effect on product design. Most domestic health-care producers seek short-term interest, and have made cheap copies from foreign similar, which led to an open to the foreign medical products in domestic market and the extrusion of domestic products. How can we make our own domestic health-care products for our own elderly? And how can we make our own products forming market competitiveness? That is a profound problem for Chinese designers.After reading plenty of reference, this thesis uses conclusive method and exploratory research to dissect the concept of elderly health-care products. Moreover, combined with the health-care needs and characteristics of elderly, this thesis explores the design entry points of health-care products in man-machine interaction, appearance design, function trade-off and CMF design. I hope the thesis can provide some instructive methods on design and thus domestic health-care business will be able to make qualified products afterward.The last part of the thesis sublimates the impact of industrial design, and discuss its influence on elderly market competitiveness. And propose a conclusive prospect on how industrial design influences the development of future health-care products in the trend of technology assimilation and household medical care. And I hope this thesis can make creative contribution to our elderly health-care business.
