At present, Ultrasonic testing that as one of the most important non-destructivetesting technology has been widely used in various fields of industrial production,especially in the nuclear industry. Before using the nuclear fuel components, usuallytake the non-destructive testing to determine whether they meet the quality requirements;Meanwhile, in order to overcome the disadvantages of traditional method, a kind ofhigh-speed, high-accuracy, high-safety automatic ultrasonic testing technology isgradually becoming the mainstream of the nuclear fuel component testing method.This topic comes from practical production demand of Nuclear Power Institute ofChina. On the basis of taking full account of the testing requirements, also thecharacteristics of nuclear fuel components, integrated Application of automatic controltechnology, servo control technology, data collection technology, digital signalprocessing technology,computer technology and so on, we designed and realized a setof automated ultrasonic testing system for a nuclear fuel plate type components.After synthesized the development and theoretical knowledge of ultrasonic testingtechnology in this paper, put forward the overall design of this system, and followedthis design, devised and also realized the system form hardware and software parts, thengiven a detail introduction about the difficult points. The hardware part mainly includesthe design of scan equipment, motion control module and data acquisition module.Software part chooses C#.NET as the programming development platform, dataacquisition module, ultrasonic data analysis module, interface display module and othermodules in the host computer. Ultimately, through experimental testing, verified theperformance of this system whether accords with the relevant technical requirements.Presently, the automatic ultrasonic testing system has been put into the actualproduction operation. The device operates excellent; test results are accurate; the systemgets user’s high praise.
