Common Information Model (CIM),a standard electric power system information model developed by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC),aims to allow Energy Management System (EMS) application to realize plug and play function, and allow the information to exchange and interoperate. Microgrid is an independent controllable system, which have a range of distributed resources and loads. Usually they provide electricity and other forms of energy to a specific area. Microgrid allows flexible operation and may features high level of reliability for power supply, therefore, it has been widely adopted in electrical power system. In this paper, we shall study the application of CIM for Microgrid in order to solve the information seamless integration problem for Microgrid EMS and Microgrid other control system, Microgrid EMS and other systems. The opening chapter gives a general overview of CIM with general schematic view for each CIM pack, defines how to divide and function of each CIM pack, and illustrates the definition of different categories and their relations in CIM system. This paper shall focus on CSR Times Electric Company’s Microgrid to analysis its typical construction, modeling analysis the main parts of CIM based on CIM extension guideline with CIM modeling tool Rational Rose, and give an adequate description of category relations in new created CIM. According to the characteristic that CIM origin data can’t support information transition, this paper probed the implementation method of CIM, take new created photovoltaic cells for example; give an adequate description of generative process of CIM/XML. And making use of SQL Server2005database of Microsoft, object-oriented technology CIM modeling data, and data inheritance, conjunction, aggregation in different models are realized in relational database by means of mapping、foreign key and extension table. Give out database relation schematic view of photovoltaic cells CIM. At last, summary of this paper is made and the problems which need further research are pointed out.
