Hypoid gear is a special bevel gear pair which is used for the transmission ofaxis movement and load; it has the advantages of strong bearing, the bettermeshing performance, tight structure, and a long operating life, which is widelyused for the gearbox of auto industry and engineering machinery. For hypoidgear has the characteristics of computationally complex and difficult design, areasonable calculation method of geometric parameters and a fast modelingmethod are definitely necessary. CAD/CAM technology increases more andmore mature in gear designing and machining with the spread of computers. Butthe widespread CAD software is hard to meet the design of complicated parts inhypoid gear structure, to realize the Effective Design, further development ofCAD software and parameter design should obtain by programming language.This topic introduces a new design method of hypoid gear based on theresearch of calculation method of Gleason-hypoid gear geometric parametersand theory of optimized design. Three-dimensional model of hypoid gears,which take the spherical involutes as tooth profile, is established by3D softwareof Pro/E2.0in Windows XP operating systems. The parametric design system ofhypoid gear is established by the development environment of Visual.C++6.0and the interface of Pro/Toolkit in Pro/E2.0. And mechanism simulation analysishas been achieved in module of Pro/Mechanism at last.
