This paper aims at a kind of LEFP charge structure composed with variable thickness liner,which is based on detonation wave collision theory. The formation mechanism of LEFP, the impact factors and engineering applications are studied. When two detonation waves collide in the ways of double ridges initiation, the overpressure produced will make form a concentration of energy, good shape, high-speed, significant and high utilization of Liner LEFP. The charge structure can form excellent LEFP even though revolution and also can form variable kill elements, which will be widely used.The theoretical calculations, numerical simulation and experimental are used to research the formation and penetration of LEFP. The main contents include:(1) The formation of LEFP produced by variable thickness liner has been researched. Firstly, The variable thickness liner structure and the speed are analyzed, then developed a numerical simulation model, which can make a simulation and comparison between the molding of variable thickness liner and the uniform thickness liner, lastly, the superiority of LEFP produced by variable thickness liner is proved by compared tests.(2) The factors influenced formation of LEFP produced by variable thickness liner has been researched. The factors such as liner thickness gradient, grain diameter, the detonation way and the rotation can affect the formation and power of LEFP by a mean of numerical simulation. The constitution of LEFP is optimum.(3) The kill elements formed by the LEFP charge has been researched. By changing the different detonation way, the LEFP charge which will formed the "knife-like" and "rod-like" LEFP in the ways numerical simulation.(4) The engineering application of the LEFP charge composed with the variable thickness liner has been researched. The "cut knife-like" LEFP charge, which can be intercepted the damage kinetic energy armor piercers and earth-penetrating bombs is tested by the means of numerical simulation respectively.
