The teaching of Chinese detachable words is a big problem for teachers when they are teaching Chinese as a foreign language. Due to the particularity of the detachable words itself and the difficulties of teaching, we should pay more attention to and must strengthen the research of Chinese detachable words teaching. So that the foreign students could grasp the usage of Chinese detachable words faster and better, and improve the efficiency of learning Chinese. The purpose of this paper is to study the Thai students’ cognitive competence and errors made by learning Chinese detachable words, then to give the recommendations on the feasibility of teaching Thai students detachable words, which makes Thai speakers grasp and apply detachable words more easily, and thus to improve their Chinese.This study makes a survey about the acquisition of Thai students using detachable words from the bias perspective of language acquisition, based on the errors of Thai students using detachable words in Southwestern University, sums up and adds up a number of insertion, overlapping, flip and other types, more than80freshman or sophomore Thai students are selected for the study, questionnaire survey was conducted about the acquisition of the detachable words, and added up and analysed the forms of errors which Thailand students are easily prone to, summarized the error types and the causes made by the time when the foreign students use detachable words. By the analysis, we know the main factors of influencing Thai students studying detachable words are:the transfer role of the mother tongue, excessive generalization of purpose language, students’acquisition strategies and the complexity of detachable words. combining with the causes of errors and the analysis and deduction on the aspects of the teaching and educational materials, we put forward effective teaching suggestions on the teaching of detachable words, such as Modules of Employable Skills, to strengthen the targeted exercises and review, improve the compiling of teaching materials. Finally, this paper is also aware of the defects and shortcomings, and put forward suggestions about further research.
