China is a country of rich of intangible cultural heritage. As an importantpart of Chinese intangible cultural heritage, intangible cultural heritage ofethnic minorities carries the collective wisdom and spirit of the nation, whichis the outcome of the intergenerational transmission of civilization created bythe minority in the course of historical development.Mangshi, located in Yunnan’s southwest border, is one of the various ethniccultures coexist area with Dai culture as the main body. There is a kind of Dainationality ancient craftsmanship—Dai paper-cut, which is deeply rooted in thefertile soil of life, showed significantly differed from the paper-cut style incentral part of China because of its special religious sacrificial offering function.Mangshi Dai paper-cut has simple and exquisite art form for thousands of years withthe profound cultural implication, which is considered as a brilliant wonderfulwork in the Dai folk arts and crafts. In 2006, Mangshi Dai paper-cut was includedin the national intangible cultural heritage, and was elected to the UNESCO HumanIntangible Cultural Heritage Representative List in 2010.Mangshi Dai paper-cut is a primitive folk art with a long history of thousandsof years without interruption. Its emergence and development are both the resultof folk activities and combining product of folk culture and folk art. Leaving thereligion environment and customs, Dai paper-cut will not survive and continue fromgeneration to generation. The original ecological environment nurturing of MangshiDai paper-cut has been analyzed from two aspects of the natural and human forthousands of years in Chapter II of this paper. In Chapter III, Chapter IV, ChapterV, by summarizing, analysis, comparative approach was used to fully explain MangshiDai paper-cut in its vertical course of development, namely the origin, developmentand evolution process.The art form, types, functions, folk and cultural connotationof Mangshi Dai paper-cut were explained and studied in detail in many aspects atevery stage of its development. The art and culture characteristics of Mangshipaper-cut was explained in Chapter VI. The cultural heritage protection and heritage issues were discussed in Chapter VII, proposing education and heritage of Daipaper-cut in the school and in the folk channels; secondly, cultivation of folkculture soil and protection of the original ecological environment of Mangshi Daipaper-cut of will be emphasized to make the folk art of living continue in orderto keep it authentic and recover its original simplicity of the original appearance.If out of the soil and the environment, the original ecology of Mangshi Dai paper-cutwould not have existed and lost its soul and charm.
