Bakhtin Polyphonic Novel Theory Research

Recently there is a study heat of Bakhtin in the literary because of his polyphonic theory,this theory have a great influence in Europe even in the world. Bakhtin found a new view inthe literary criticism, he used the musical term "polyphony" into the study of Dostoyevsky’snovels. Bakhtin put the novel into two types, one is the Soliloquy Novel and the other is thePolyphonic Novel. He think Dostoevsky’s polyphonic novels opened a new stage, thePolyphonic Novel broke the single form in the text, and made different sound get together. itis not only beneficial to express the ideas, but also can embody the depth of thought. Bakhtinhave brought significant innovation in a new way to express the novel. This theory greatlyenriched the method of literary criticism.This paper is divided into three parts.The first part is about the basic explanation ofBakhtin’s polyphonic theory, it can make the reader have a basic understanding of thepolyphony theory, comparing the difference between the Polyphonic Novel and the SoliloquyNovel, then we can find the reason of the polyphonic theory’s appearance. The second part isabout the depth study of polyphonic novel theory, the polyphonic theory is including dialoguetheory, the unique view of the hero, and unfinished novel theory. The third part is about thevalue of Bakhtin’s polyphonic theory, and this theory make a great role in Chinese literary. Weshould not only see the polyphonic theory’s value, but also the shortcomings of the theory, it isbetter to improve the polyphonic theory.
