When the Foreigners learn Chinese, the complement is a major difficulty, and the directional complement is a key of the difficulty, and also the key in foreign Chinese teaching and the HSK examination. This paper mainly discusses the body of the directional complement, the error analysis and the teaching strategy from the perspective of "Chinese as a foreign language". The paper not only elaborates the grammatical particularities of the directional complement, but also undertakes to explain the grammar point from both form and meaning in detail. We discuss the directional complement is determined by the simple directional complement and the compound directional complement, and analysis the grammatical meaning of the directional complement, which includes the foothold, semantic orientation, start point and terminal point, secondary meaning. Then we analysis the24directional complements one by one, and provide a detailed and reasonable explanation for the theory from all angles. On the basis of those, the author classifies the directional complement errors into three categories: verb usage errors, the wrong selection of complements, the wrong position of compound directional complement and object. Then we mainly use the literature analysis and deductive inductive method to collect the errors of English and Korean native speakers on usage of Chinese, and find out the causes to contrast. There is no the corresponding grammar points in English, Korean and Chinese, so many students who are learning Chinese think that the complement especially the compound directional complement is hard to master. So to the Chinese learners, it is very necessary to understand the grammatical structure and meaning, and in-depth study of complement will deepen the learner’s understanding of Chinese grammar system. Finally, we apply the theory to practice instruction, and then put forward some reasonable suggestions for the Chinese teachers and learners. And we also hope we can provide some help for the Chinese researchers, teachers and learners.
