China and Korea are both in the cultural circle of Chinese characters. In Korea,people could find Chinese characters everywhere, for example people and places’ names,government official documents, titles of reigning dynasty and so on. What’s therelationship between the two countries Chinese characters? When and how Chinesecharacters influence South Korea culture, and what about the development of theChinese characters in Korea? This paper attempt to study the similarities and differencesbetween China’s and Korea’s commonly used Chinese characters. Because of thespecial geographical and historical relationship, and true sense of the word still didn’texist in ancient Peninsula Korea, Chinese Characters was spread to Korea. As the timechanged and the development of the society, Korean accepted Chinese character.Chinese character reaches deep into South Korea every area of society. At the same timethe difference appeared smoothly. Both China’s and Korea’s Chinese characters havechanged compare to ancient traditional Chinese. So by the level of same language age,we could find different characteristics both in the modern Chinese and Korean.There are four chapters in this paper. The Chapter1is introduction of the purposeand significance of the study on China’s and Korea’s commonly used Chinesecharacters. It shows and points out the future research on this field, and it alsosummarizes the research scope and research methods.Chapter2researched the history of the use of Chinese characters. It shows theusing history and current situation of Chinese characters in Korea. Firstly, itsummarized the historical stage of development from diachronic perspective of Chinesecharacters in Korea. Secondly, by the level of inherent Chinese Characters and Chinesecharacter’s Korean and Japanese derivatives, Chapter2analyzed the change of Chinesecharacters in Korea, and then summarizes the current situation of Chinese characters in Korea briefly. This chapter in research methods of innovation lies that it analysis theevolution course of Chinese characters in Korea from a historical perspective, to drawout the cause of the variation of Chinese characters.Chapter3is the important part of this research paper. It shows the comparison ofthe China’s and Korea’s commonly used Chinese characters. As a form, sound andmeaning combination and markup language, Chinese characters has been used in Koreawith a long history. And native young Korean language itself as a gelling languagewould also make Chinese characters change in its language system. This chapterselected863Chinese characters from the form and meaning vocabulary these twoaspects of classification. The research method of the innovation in this chapter is that itattempt to find the common features of hidden behind between China’s and Korea’scommonly used Chinese characters by analysis and comparison. This chapter by thecomparative study of the two countries could to provide some constructive suggestionsfor Chinese and Korean language learners.
