| Body words refer to words that show the body of human being, such as “head, eye,mouth, heart, hand and footâ€. It is easy to find idioms related to body words in Chinese andPersian and their usages and meanings are quite flexible. During the process of learningand using Chinese and Persian, we find that the idioms concerning body are frequentlyused. The origin and figurative meaning of such idioms in these two nations, however, arenot the same. And this phenomenon reflects different thinking pattern, behavioral pattern,social background and customs.The idioms regarding body words can be found widely both in Chinese and Persianand they are used to express emotions, behaviors and situations etc. With such idioms as itsobject of study, the thesis analyzes the similarities and disparities between Chinese andPersian from the perspective of contrast studies.The thesis mainly adopts a comparative method to compare the idioms relevant to thebody one by one. Finally, on this basis, the thesis sums up the characteristics, similaritiesand disparities of such idioms in both languages. It is of vital significance to study thedisparities and similarities of such idioms and the diversified cultural connotation and thethinking pattern reflected by them. Besides, it contributes a lot to the teaching and learningof Chinese and Persian. Meanwhile, it is of great help to the translation between the twolanguages and compiling such dictionaries. |
