Since80s of last century, the education of teaching Chinese to speakers of other languages has developed rapidly, China has devoted increasing support to it and the construction of Chinese teaching is in constant progress. However, in this new subject, there are still many unsolved problems which urgently need mutual supplement and interaction with excellent overseas teaching methods. This paper focuses on the control teaching method of primary stage Chinese vocabulary in North America, explores the efficient way to solve the domestic problem. On the basis of human language activation mechanism, North American control teaching method regards the conclusion of the current research in linguistics and the second language acquisition as the theoretical foundation, it puts forward the controlling practice method of "under the control of the teachers, give priority to the students". Considering the situation that the courses in the primary stage are simple and unrelated and the teachers emphasize the grammatical teaching while ignoring vocabulary teaching, the paper brings forward the ways of bringing into play the advantages of control Chinese vocabulary teaching method in the primary stage in North America in accordance with the situation in China, in the hope that it will be constructive for the vocabulary teaching in the primary stage in China.
