Allusion-words have played an important role in enriching Chinese lexical system and adding charm to the Chinese language. They are usually created from Ancient Classics, especially Confusion ones from Pre-Qin Period. The Analects of Confucius has produced a great many allusion-words. The thesis is aimed to make a comprehensive analysis of allusion-words from the Analects of Confucius, which are completely lexicalized. The thesis has four chapters. The first chapter is focused on what is the aim of this paper and why it has been chosen, as well as a brief introduction on previous research related to this subject. The second chapter is focused on word formation, dividing the Analects-allusion-words into five classifications according to their components and how their components are related to Classics. The third chapter will have a thorough discussion on lexicalization and the drive behind it, as well as the meaning changes in lexicalization. In the last chapter, we will combine the Analects-allusion-words with the Grand Chinese Dictionary, and make some recommendation to it.
