To Explore The Process Of Translation

For the translation part, I have selected several chapters from the novel Mail Order Bride. Given the characteristics of the Chinese novel, translation of this kind requires paying attention to three aspects so as to make sure the translation is acceptable in a Chinese cultural context. I focus mainly on the idioms and colloquial language; phrases and sentences. So in my paper, I have managed to apply some theories of translation which I have learned from the books by the scholars of translation theories to the analysis of the linguistic and cultural differences of the texts. I have ventured to work out four ways of looking at literal translation, free translation, transliteration, and faithfulness to the style of the original text.
